FEES AND DONATIONS

In order to sustain the program and to help offset actual costs, we ask participants for a voluntary $45 donation per cat. The nominal fees offsets the costs of the veterinarian, medical assistants, anesthesia, pain meds, consumables, spay/neuter, ear tip, rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccine (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia), microchip, and if needed fluids for hydration.  In addition, cats are treated for fleas, ear mites, and ticks if visible. We do not want this cost to restrict or limit anyone from participating, so we proactively partner with all people of all financial means. Talk to us if you need fees waived, or if you are able to contribute more.

SURGERY

Once sedated, cats are checked for potential microchips and potential past evidence of neuter/spay procedures. All cats are spayed/neutered, ear tipped, receive rabies vaccine and FVRCP vaccine (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia), microchipped, and if needed cats will receive fluids for hydration.  In addition, cats are treated for fleas, ear mites, and ticks if visible. Our staff will work with you on a case by case basis for all extenuating circumstances including injuries, infections, abscesses, and single enucleation. Post-surgery the cats are held at the shelter overnight at an appropriate temperature for recovery. This gives the cats time to recover in a quiet and safe space, while the anesthesia wears off. They are also given food and water. Cats must be returned the next day to the exact location where they were trapped.
